Located about eight kilometres from the centre of Paris is the former home and workplace of Letourneur and Zwobada, where they both lived and worked with Antonia Fiermonte. It is an extraordinary space upon which art and passion have left an indelible mark.
In Paris itself, one of Zwobada’s sculptures was installed at the Pompidou Centre at the end of 2021. Completed in 1959, the ‘Chevauchée Nocturne’ is a tribute to Fiermonte, his late muse, and depicts two silhouettes that rush and embrace one another facing the rooftops of Paris – a couple united in their pursuit towards the unknown.
This monumental work has undergone a delicate restoration, and was a gift to the museum from the artist’s daughter.
