From Planet to Plate" is the theme chosen for the third edition, which will take place from September
19th to November 3rd in the heart of Salento, between Matino, Lecce, and other picturesque locations, under the artistic direction of Edda Fahrenhorst. This festival invites reflection on the connection between food, photography, and the environment, exploring the impact of food consumption on social and climate sustainability. Everyday actions, like eating a sandwich or sipping an aperitif, often hide complex consequences and a profound impact on the planet and society: from the intensive use of resources, such as the water needed to grow an avocado, to the ethical and social implications of food production. Through visual art, the Festival provides a powerful platform to tell stories of resilience and creativity. Among the featured artists,
Alessia Rollo will present a new original production made in Salento, while the winner of the international call,
Alexander Yegorov, will explore the power of food as a symbol of human connection. The 2024 edition will involve new venues, such as
Palazzo de Gualtieris in Castrignano dei Greci and the ancient
church of Santa Maria La Nova in Racale. In addition to exhibitions, masterclasses, and meetings, the opening days (September 19-22) will host talks, DJ sets, and moments of discussion on photography, food, and sustainability, combining creativity with critical reflection.
