At the age of seventeen, Enzo Fiermonte became a professional boxer, acquiring a level of fame that allowed him to travel all over the world. Fighting in Milan, Paris, London and Cairo, he eventually made it to Madison Square Garden in New York, where he became the world champion.
After meeting Lady Madeleine Astor, a wealthy American heiress, whilst on a luxury cruise, he divorced his first wife, Tosca, and they went on to marry in 1933. Following his second marriage, he abandoned his boxing career to work as an actor, appearing in many movies including Luchino Visconti’s ‘Rocco and His Brothers’.
His marriage to Lady Astor lasted only four years after which he returned to Rome, passing away at the age of eighty-four.
